Very popular radio system, produced from 1978 till 198 Excellent sensitivity, comfortable using, quality sound. Frequency range ??/SSB: 53530150 kHz, FM: 88108 MHz. Available BFO Pitch. Possible to connect external antenna. Also operates from eight D cells. The RF4900 is similar to the earlier RF4800, but with a green fluorescent digital display rather than a red LED digital display. AM and FM frequencies are digitally displayed. RF4900 has been sold outside the United States as the model DR49.

So, the RF4900, the same as DR49, is what it is. It’s a nice sounding tabletop set that was designed to satisfy the listening needs of the average nontechnical SWL’er. It does that very well. It is fun to use and has very pleasing, loud undistorted detected audio. Panasonic did something right in that area. Sensitivity seems fine.
